Modern Vampire Fiction

The vampire leaned his head down, settled the points of his teeth against her neck, waited. Just as before, the moment stretched out into eternity. The world became surreal, painted in shades of grey and yet more vibrant than anything Two had ever witnessed. She felt a tear grow on a single eyelash, fatten, drop. It hit her face, the warmth of her body fading quickly as it cooled, leaving a track down her cheek. Her heart throbbed. The vampire tore through the flesh of her neck in an instant, seeking the blood forced through her veins by that thudding organ ...

Sex. Drugs. Violence.

Despair. Desire. Revenge.

Love. Faith. Redemption.

The Holidays are always so busy, aren't they? Between trips to France and to New York, not to mention finishing a whole new novel (more on that soon!), we haven't had a lot of time for this poor little site. Well, that's all changing now! We've updated the Praise Page with a whole ton of new, kind words. We've also changed the Links Page, on which you'll now find the first official review of The Blood That Bonds! Pretty cool. This month's project: finding new sites that might like to review or talk about the book, and querying some agents to see about print representation. Wish us luck. Don't forget to subscribe to our news feed to get all of our updates delivered right to your reader!

Been a bit since the last update. We were in New York City for a week, which didn't allow for a lot of time for The Blood That Bonds. Now we're back, and getting into things. First off, we've received a nice writeup from our copy editor Lauren at her blog, and we're also now featured at ebook download site obooko. Also, we've removed the forums for now (no activity), and put up a Praise for The Blood That Bonds page featuring some of the excellent feedback we've received. Oh, and we also now have a simple RSS feed you can subscribe to. WOO! More soon!

We're guest blogging over at Reading with a Bite today. The subject? The vampire as modern hero ... taking a look at the evolution over the past few decades of the vampire from creature of pure evil, to sympathetic outcast, to 'bad boy with a heart of gold' and beyond. Check it out, and thanks to Reading with a Bite for the opportunity!

It's been a very busy couple of weeks for The Blood That Bonds. Our book is in the Smashwords premium catalog and has thus been syndicated to Sony and Barnes and Noble. We've also been featured on a few terrific sites -- Sidhe Vicious Reviews, Finding Free eBooks, and All Things Smart and Scary (includes an exclusive excerpt) -- all of which has lead to our first milestone: The Blood That Bonds eBook has now been downloaded over 500 times! That's not even including the "views" numbers on Scribd. Not bad at all, and we've got some more features and the first couple of book reviews coming in the next week or so. Stay tuned.

We've had quite a few downloads of The Blood That Bonds! Looking forward to hearing some feedback. In the meantime, we're working on adding new formats and getting the title listed with more sites. It's currently up on Smashwords, which provides several different formats for various eReaders. Also, we fixed a small bug in the contact form that prevented it from working with Google Chrome.

Yesterday we added The Blood That Bonds to Scribd (see the download page), and today we've been featured on the excellent site "Online Novels" (check out the links page). More formats and news coming in the next day or two.

Welcome to The Blood That Bonds website soft launch ... we've opened the site up, taken off the password protection, and are making a few versions of the eBook available right now, with more formats to come in the next few days. The site might still be a little buggy, though we've done our best to squash anything we've come across. If you run into problems, don't hesitate to contact us about them!
