FAQ - The Blood That Bonds Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is The Blood That Bonds
The Blood That Bonds is a novel by Christopher Buecheler. The novel is available on this very website, for free, in a variety of eBook and (shortly) audio formats!
Q: What's it about?
The answer to that can be found on the About Page.
Q: Who is Christopher Buecheler?
Christopher Buecheler is a Web Designer and Developer, and a published author. He was born in 1977 and grew up mainly in Syracuse, New York. He has lived in Massachusetts, Southern California, Philadelphia, New York City (Manhattan and Brooklyn), and Indiana. He currently lives in Broad Ripple Village with his awesome French wife Charlotte and their two cats: Carbomb and Baron Salvatore H. Lynx II. When not writing or making web pages, he spends his time taking photos, crafting new cocktails, playing video games, exploring Indianapolis, and growing a ridiculous set of sideburns.
Christopher has been writing fiction since the age of eleven, completed his first novel at fifteen, and has been working on the Two AM character off and on since the age of seventeen. In addition to The Blood That Bonds, Christopher has written short fiction (most of which is available at his website) and a variety of non-fiction for sites like Crispy Gamer and GameSpy.
Q: Why did he release The Blood That Bonds for free?
The goal of most any writer is to find an audience for their work. The traditional publishing industry is incredibly difficult to break into, requiring not only skill, but a huge amount of luck, and no small amount of time. Hoping to find readers, Christopher decided to leverage his skills as a web designer and developer to try and get the word out about his book. This way, a large amount of people can easily access the work and form their own opinions about it. If the novel attains enough buzz to be picked up by a print publisher, then so much the better! If not, at least it's been made available to one and all.
Q: So this is really free, right?
Totally free. No cost for the eBook, no advertising on the site, no strings attached. There are a few very minor restrictions, as dictated by the Creative Commons License mentioned in the footer. Basically: you can download the book for free, read the book for free, and pass the book on to friends for free, so long as you do not modify the book, remove the author's name, or charge any money for the book. Other than that, please do share it with people you think will like it!
Q: Where do I get the print version?
There is no print version at this time. We're hoping that this website will generate enough publicity to help get someone interested in publishing the book! As soon as one is available, it will be linked prominently on this website.
I like the book and would like to help. What can I do?
Spread the word! Here are things you can do:
- Become a fan of the book on Facebook
- Follow our updates on Twitter
- Post on your blog about the book
- Alert other blogs you follow about the book
- Participate in our forums
- Send us some feedback
- Send the link or a copy of the eBook to everyone you know who you think might be interested
... all those things help tremendously. If you want to go really nuts, find some book publishers and mail them requesting that they publish a print edition of the book.
We're currently also gauging reader interest in a donation system (most likely through Paypal), but have not implemented anything of that type so far.
Who drew these awesome illustrations?
All of the illustrations on the site were drawn by Garry Brown. You should visit his portfolio site and check out all of his work!
What the heck does 'A Ham Novel' up there in the logo mean?
Well, it's actually supposed to be a roman numeral two, like II ... but when we connected the lines it looked even more like it said "Ham" than it does right now. If you want to known what "A roman-numeral-two AM Novel" means, we recommend checking out the About page. The first character bio should give some explanation!
